How To Get Started With Wealthy Affiliate

So you’re thinking about diving into the world of affiliate marketing with Wealthy Affiliate, If you are just starting out, I am sure that you are pretty excited about this opportunity to earn income by promoting products and services from your laptop. If you are anything like I was the excitement is also mixed with other emotions, you might be feeling a bit lost as you try to get your head around how you will actually get started. You might also be feeling a bit nervous and wondering whether you will be able to do it or whether Wealthy Affiliate is the right platform for you. If you are, don’t worry as I am going to help you figure out your own path to getting started.

Wealthy Affiliate – Is it Right For Me

Before you even think about HOW to get started I would encourage you first of all to think one last time about whether you SHOULD.

Wealthy Affiliate is a fantastic platform that offers excellent training and support at every stage of your journey to develop an online business, but it is not for everyone. You need to be able and willing to put in consistent effort on a regular basis, you don’t need to work 100’s of hours every week but you will need to consistently invest 5 to 10 hours of work each week to build your business. You also need to be prepared to learn new skills and doing this means getting out of your comfort zone a bit, nothing you need to learn is too complicated but you do need to be open to the process of learning and accept that you are a beginner in this industry.

Even if you are willing and able to put some work into your business you still need to decide whether Wealthy Affiliate is right for you, think about what you want to achieve and consider your own goals. Are you looking for instant results to get you out of a financial hole or do you want to build a business that will supplement your income during retirement. Wealthy Affiliate is not a get rich quick scheme but it can help you build a business that can generate an income for years to come.

Getting Started With Wealthy Affiliate

So you’ve made the big first step to explore the world of affiliate marketing with Wealthy Affiliate. That’s a fairly significant step, and I’m here to help you navigate this initial period. Signing up for Wealthy Affiliate is really straightforward so if you haven’t already signed up just click the link here to get your Free Starter Membership. You’ll start with a free membership which is great for getting a taste of what’s on offer and allows you another opportunity to make sure that this is the right place for you. Simply enter your details, choose a username and password and you are in.

The chances are that you clicked a link on a website blog that brought you to Wealthy Affiliate so you will probably already have a mentor in the group that will be looking out for you, it might even be me. They will introduce themselves via a message and this will give you your first feeling of the support that you will get at Wealthy Affiliate. You will also get a welcome email from Kyle, he is one of the co-founders of Wealthy Affiliate and will introduce himself and give you an overview of what to expect. He will also give you a link to help get you started.

I Have My Membership – What Do I Do Next

Step 1: Watch the Getting Started Video – After you’ve signed up and logged in the first thing you will see will be the welcome screen and a welcome video from Kyle, there is a big blue button that says “Continue here” but despite your initial excitement I would encourage you to take just over 8 minutes and watch the “Getting started” video with Kyle that is on the top right of your screen. This will outline exactly what you need to do next and you really should watch this before going anywhere else.

Step 2: Select What you want to promote – Now you can click the big “Continue Here” button and move to the next stage, this is where the fun really starts and you will be asked to make your first decision by selecting 1 of the 2 available options:

• Choose My Own Niche – If you want to use affiliate marketing to promote a specific topic then this is the option for you. Select this and the next steps will help you to really nail down your specific area
• Promote Wealthy Affiliate – If you want to get straight into promoting the Wealthy Affiliate platform then this is the option for you. I didn’t feel comfortable promoting the platform until I had used it for a while and had seen what it could do for me but some people like to start with this.

Step 3: Choose Your Niche – This will be your first opportunity to see how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been built into Wealthy Affiliate to help you, if you already have a topic that you want to promote this is where you will narrow it down into a specific niche. Simply enter your topic in the search box and hit “Find Me Niches”, The Wealthy Affiliate Hub AI tool will then suggest several ideas, if you don’t like any of them just tap “Re-Generate Niches” for more ideas. You can also add more info into the search box and try again and you can do this up to 200 times on your Free Starter Membership until you find one that you really like. As a test I started with Sports Memorabilia USA and ended up selecting Vintage Baseball Cards as a niche. Once you are happy with your niche you can move onto the next stage where it says “Continue here”.

Step 4: Choose A Name For Your Brand – This is where it starts to get personal to you as you will be selecting a name for your brand that really fits with what you want, it is important that you put some thought into this as going forward this will also become your website brand. Don’t worry if you don’t feel creative as the Wealthy Affiliate Hubs AI tool will help you with some great ideas that you can use. The first thing you will see in this screen is a list of suggestions for names for your business, if you like one of them you can select it straight away or you can regenerate some more ideas or even type your own idea here. I usually find that I start looking and nothing really jumps out at me but after browsing for a few minutes I always see a name that really jumps out at me and I really like. In my test I really liked “Throwback Trading” so I picked that and moved to the next stage

Step 5: Build Your Website – I know this sounds like a massive step and when I first read this I imagined a whole team of techies working away on laptops to build a website, but actually it is the easiest step of the whole process, once you click continue again you will see the screen below and once you are happy with the details just click “Build My Site”, sit back and the Wealthy Affiliate Hubs AI tool will do the rest for you.

After a few minutes you will see my favourite screen as you get a pop up to tell you that your new website is now built and ready for you to start growing. At this stage you can feel really pleased with yourself as you have just created a bona fide website all of your own.

Now I Have A Website – What Do I Do With It

Your main objective will be to create content for your website to start attracting visitors, this sounds like a big job but if you follow the structure you will find it much easier than you think. If you are ready and want to get going straight away, just log in to Wealthy Affiliate and you will see the main community home page, there is a huge amount of information here and it can look a bit overwhelming, but the trick with this is to break it down into small pieces and that is exactly what the step by step training will do.

The first thing you need to know is how to get to your Wealthy Affiliate Hub. as this is where all of your information and training can be found. This is super easy as you simply click the big WA logo or Hubs icon in the top left, both of these will take you to your very own business hub.

Once you get into your Hub you will see that it is broken down into various different sections, feel free to take some time to browse up and down and check out the various areas but I would urge you to NOT take any action just yet. The first thing I would recommend here is to start watching the “Step-By-Step Core Training videos” in the second row down, start with Class 1 as this is where Kyle will give you a run through of the whole Hub area and the next steps for you. This video will break down the ideal road map of activities for the next 8 to 12 weeks and will really put you at ease as it will give you a very clear set of instructions to follow. You can work really hard and get through the tasks quickly or you can take you time and spread them out, the length of time it takes to do them is really up to you and the amount of time you have available to invest.

There are 8 classes in the initial core training ranging from 16 mins long up to a maximum of 30 mins long, they are really clear and all the content is documented below the video to refer back to. The initial 8 classes cover everything from creating your plan, developing your brand, how to research ideas, how to create your content and even how to create a logo and AI images among other things. By the time you get to the end of class 8 you will already have learned so much and will be well on your journey as an affiliate marketer.

Must-Do Actions – Complete Your Tasks

As you watch each class you will notice that there are tasks to complete with each one, the temptation when you are new is to leave the tasks (I told myself I would do them later) and move onto the next class as you are probably excited and want to learn as much as you can.

DON’T DO THIS!! – I would strongly recommend that you make sure to complete each task before moving onto the next class, this is because it will save you a lot of time later and will make sure that you are developing your website as you go.

Trust me on this one, you will thank me later if you do.

Be Realistic With Your Expectations – But Set Goals

I have mentioned excitement a lot and if you are like me as a beginner this is how you will feel when you start seeing what can be achieved with Wealthy Affiliate yo help you do it, I was really excited and the more I read, the more excited I got. This can lead you to start getting ahead of yourself and expecting results too fast which can then lead to unnecessary disappointment, it is really important that you try to stay calm and the best way to do this is to create a realistic plan of what you want to achieve. I would also set some goals to keep you on track and give you something to work towards too. For example, don’t expect any traffic to your website in your first 8 weeks (if you get some that is a bonus but don’t put yourself under unnecessary pressure) so maybe set a goal to have at least one visitor to your site by week 8 to have a target to work towards. You could also set a goal to publish 4 posts in your first 4 weeks to keep you on track but your goals can be anything that works for you, just make sure they are based in reality.

 The resources and educational tools at your disposal in Wealthy Affiliate are extensive but you have to really immerse yourself in them if you want to maximize the learning and fast track your development. Remember, you are a beginner in this new trade so you need to be studying regularly if you want to become fully skilled. A perfect example of this is the Jaaxy keyword research tool, it will become one of your best friends but you need to invest time in learning what it can offer and then more time into actually experimenting with it. This is the sort of thing that is perfect for setting goals for yourself. You could set a goal to complete all the training available to you by week 4 or to identify 20 keywords using Jaaxy by week 2

Be Prepared For Decision Time – Free Starter or Premium

As you work through what is available in your Free Starter Membership you will get a real taste of what is possible and you will have completed most of the following:

• You will have picked a Niche and started building your brand
• You will have created your own website
• You will have created your company logo
• You will know how to research topics to write about
• You will have used AI to help write engaging content
• You will have started learning about getting your site ranked in Google

At this point your biggest investment will have been your time but at some point you will want to decide whether to:

1. Call it a day as Affiliate marketing is not for you – it won’t have cost you anything and you will have learned a lot of skills that you can use in other areas
2. Stay on the Free Starter Membership, take what you have learned and do it yourself
3. Invest in a paid membership and step up your learning and activities

Whichever you choose is completely up to you and at this stage you will have had learned a lot already and be in a much better position to make such a decision. This is also one of the main reasons why I chose Wealthy Affiliate initially. I started with a Free Starter Membership but very quickly realized this was exactly what I was looking for. I then moved to a paid membership but opted to pay monthly as I set myself a goal that I wouldn’t pay annually until I had made enough revenue to cover it. Remember though, however you choose to proceed from here you need to be patient in your approach and consistent in your effort. You will have ups and downs along the way, this is normal just like it is when you build any business, but if you stay consistent you will continue to build and with every bit of content you write or affiliate program you sign up for you will add another layer to your business and keep it progressing
